10 Hazards At A Construction Site: Part 1

As part of an earlier series I have been planning to blog about since the beginning of the internship, Mojoe presents: 10 things you need to watch out for at a construction site. *fanfare* (Well, at least those 10 things are from my personal perspective!)

A little update: I still have no internet connection, so this is from my office. I shall be calling up DiGi soon to fix the problem...

Hazard #1 - Wooden Planks Lying Around

If you really look around a construction site, you will notice a lot of discarded wooden planks around you. Whether in heaps or just stray pieces of wood. In fact it is so common to see them around that eventually you get kinda numb towards seeing them and you might feel that there's nothing wrong with a bunch of planks lying around. But think again...

I wouldn't fancy stepping on one of those, not even with my boots!

Was a scout back in high school when we went out to jungle to cut down bamboo for one of our camps.

Someone stepped on a board o'nails just like that one. Apparently trappers put 'em around as rabbit traps, but the guy who got his foot skewered certainly wasn't nicknamed "Rabbit". Or "Bunny". Or "Thumper".

What made it worse were the rusty nails. Free tetanus, anyone?

Hospitalized, treated, sent home. Nothing too serious as I remember it. =]
