What Happened to the Dogs?

Quick update #1: I have not been online for a long time. Just felt bored of going online for a while.

Quick update #2: Liverpool 5 - 0 Singapore!! This shows 2 things. Liverpool > Man Utd & Malaysia > Singapore!! (tongue in cheek)

If you do recall the post about my supervisor's fearsome dogs, here's a little update on what happened to them. It seems the dogs have been at the shelter for a month or so and they have become fatter. But they have also taken up a new interest-- WOMEN!!

By this I mean female dogs. Their latest endeavour has earned them scars and bruises, and my supervisor decided to bring them some acriflavine lotion, which is why we got to visit them.

Injured soldier-in-love

Just in case you were wondering about what happened to that little puppy that they bullied. She's a little more grown up now, and they've gotten used to her and stopped barking at her. In fact, she can even get away with messing around with them and she helps them lick their wounds. Since then they have found a new target to unleash their fury upon, and they do so without any mercy. That unfortunate victim happens to be another dog over there.

Puppy trying to help clean the wound

Mischievous puppy

Other than that, managed to bring gf to The Curve and IKEA finally. We had some nice meatballs though. =D And I love this pic!

My "Malaysian" Weekend

Hi. Haven't been around for the weekend, so this post is kinda delayed a little. Have been doing many things throughout the weekend and it was really fruitful. Gf decided to come down because I got the free tickets for us. But the real story started from friday after work.

FRIDAY

My colleague said, "Hey, stay back a while. The new GM has a treat for us," When I went out, what caught me by surprise was not that it was a durian feast, but the sheer amounts of durian that came. A WHOLE TRUCK came all the way from Penang, carrying a whole load of durians (especially "Red Prawn")

They even had the workers from Penang

Mangosteens and rambutans to cool you down

The other people in the office, normally very reserved and dignified, all of a sudden turn into "hungry ghosts" when they saw the durians.

Crowding around the truck

After grabbing a durian, eat it the traditional Malaysian way!

They eat so fast that at times the shell is left when you get there =(

The "view" outside my office

I myself managed to grab quite a lot of durians despite having to "fight" the others for it. I left at 6.30 p.m. as I didn't want to be late for cell group but I heard later on that the people even stayed beyond 7.30 p.m., still eating durians!

I skipped dinner because I was running late for cell, so Aaron and I decided we would go for makan after cell. But praise God for another blessing. The young adults' pastor bought us pizzas from Domino's so we had free dinner again. =D

SATURDAY

Went to watch the Malaysia XI vs Manchester United match. After lining up for ages just to buy train tickets and squeezing into trains with many red t-shirt-clad people, we reached Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil.

So many people crowding around trying to get in

The rush!

After running up and down a whole lot of stairs, we finally found 2 places where we had a pretty good view, even though my camera couldn't really capture how good the view was.

The lineup being announced

The packed stadium of die-hard devils

Match underway, my camera couldn't catch the celebrations properly =(

The match was really interesting, and whatever others might say, Malaysia performed well by scoring 2 goals, losing 2-3 by a stroke of luck that allowed Michael Owen to score his first goal in months.

Later on we headed down to Berjaya Times Square and had some nice thai food at VERY THAI restaurant. Then finally let gf try Krispy Kreme. Hope she really enjoyed herself though, since it was her 21st birthday the day after. =D If you wanna read more bout the Man United match, Thai food and the Krispy Kreme, you can read this.

All-in-all, it was a wonderful weekend! =D

Prize Collected

Just collected the physical manifestation of what I won the other day though. Finally, I'm going to watch a LIVE soccer match with GF. Although I don't really know what to do with the United cap tho. Hmmm...

Thanks to Uncle Wilson for showing me the shortest way there the other day, or else I would be going one big round just to find the directions to Taipan. =D

Mojoe's 1st Review: Plants vs Zombies

Here's a little advertisement for the creators of this game. (I have not been paid to do this!)

If you enjoyed games like,

2. Zuma

YOU ought to try out the All New (okay, not that new) Plants vs Zombies!!

This is, as with all the other PopCap games, highly-addictive and highly-adorable. What is this game all about? The whole idea of the game is explained "helpfully" by this picture...

Anyways, the whole idea is that zombies are coming to attack you house to eat your brains. The only defence you have against them is a whole arsenal of...... PLANTS!! (How helpful is that?) Somehow the system works, and you gotta exercise your green fingers to save yourself (and your brain!) from destruction.

You are given time to plant some plants on your lawn. You can choose from a whole range of plants that provide various options including the "Sunflower", which provides extra sunlight for you to plant more plants, the basic "Pea Shooter" that well, just shoots peas and kills zombies, and those are just to name 2 of them.

There are also many kinds of zombies to fight with, ranging from the regular weak zombie to American Football zombies to even zombies driving a bob-sled or riding on dolphins (they're undead too, mind you!). All that effort, just to eat your puny little brain! *phew*

There are many levels that vary in terms of scenario as you progress, and if at any point you get bored of just planting and blocking zombies, you can unlock 3 other game modes with multiple levels of their own. So in other words, this game provides a lot more depth than other games of similar simplicity.

Daytime scenario with all kinds of crazy zombies

Those glowing things are sunlight btw, and it's a wonder how the tombs spawn at night

And, in the event where all your plants die, and the zombies attack your house, you have a last line of defence, which is a lawnmower which will flatten the intruding zombies. But, if after that you let another zombie through...

I Won!!

Remember that Smirnoff Man United competition that I entered for fun? I can't believe that I won something. Haha.

Even though I won the Special Prize, which is a Smirnoff Manchester United Cap and 2 RM58 tickets (which means I'm gonna be behind the goalkeeper!), but it's still something and I'm grateful for it. =D

Hopefully Gf can come and watch with me though. I never expected the first LIVE football match I'm gonna watch is of Manchester United; while a week after, my brother will be watching Liverpool kick the wind out of the Singaporean National Team. T_T

Whatever it is... Thanks to Smirnoff, Thaiboxingirl, Riche Monde, and those who helped me!! =D

Exam Results

Results just came out. Was really scared about it but when I saw it I was relieved. I was extremely shocked at my Engineering Economics and Malaysian Studies results, which looked like DEFINITE A's to me. I wonder why I NEVER get A for 2 credit hour subjects. Always A- that I always nearly expect it.

But anyways just praise God that I didn't fall out of Dean's as nearly everyone in Civil gang had their GPA drop from the previous semester. It was indeed harder in that semester. Hopefully this semester *fingers crossed* =D

Anyways, this is how it looks like. Still thankful because my coursework was not as good as previous semesters. But the results are encouraging, save for those 2 I mentioned above, and Highway Engineering =D

The Most Pointless Thing I Did Today

I normally have my meals in the office. So my meals are kinda like "Kinder Joy" surprises that I get everyday. Never know what's for lunch beforehand. So I kinda realized that the time it takes for me to finish my meal varies from day to day. So, having a lot of time on my hands, I tried to derive an expression to determine the speed of my eating a standard meal.

The following is the solution I have obtained:

There are infinite variables that we can consider. However I have decided to omit the less quantifiable variables which will complicate the calculations, such as food dislikes, allergies, being picky etc.

Assumptions:
1. All food is at least acceptable to the eater
2. Speed varies from one individual to another
3. The meal consumed is not for luxury, but rather out of necessity
4. Taste (acceptability) and Portion are the only variables that govern the magnitude of speed

First, we isolate the influence of each parameter on the magnitude of speed.

We can see that Taste is directly proportional to Speed while Portion is inversely proportional to Speed.

Next, we combine the two variables to support the accuracy of the above method with a simple table.

where, -- represents, Extremely Low Speed
- Low Speed
O medium Speed
+ High Speed
++ Extremely High Speed

Therefore, I conclude that:-

Speed = Constant x Taste/Portion

Perhaps I may be wrong, but I guess. This means I'm probably thinking too much or I'm just too bored and missing Gf too much. =(

I Miss You

Gf is in Singapore now visiting her aunt. She just left at 5 p.m in the evening via air. I already miss her. =(

I have been reading so many pages and finished 2 books. Feeling bored and lonely without you. But 9 days will pass by soon rite? =D

Btw this has always been my favorite pic though, and it stands on my table. =D
