Malacca Field Trip: PPMSB

A Short update: Sorry for the long hiatus. I have been really busy. Tiresome weeks lately and more to come, I foresee.

Here is one of the reasons I love Civil Engineering in UTP: Awesome field trips!! =)

We have been to many field trips throughout our study in UTP. Lemme see... Langkawi, Ayer Tawar, Temenggor and Grik, Kajang, and the most recent... Malacca!!

Previously, all the accommodation were horrible. Langkawi - weird dormitory, Ayer Tawar - mosquito-infested camp, Temenggor and Grik - (Day trip)... Well, Kajang was so far the best. We were in a 3-star hotel. I thought that nothing could top that. However, what greeted my sight was...

Looks impressive from the outside

The door doesn't look promising...

Looking better...

Private bedroom section!

Personal bar counter!!

Little lounge with free Astro!!!

Everly Resort, Malacca, is a 4-star hotel. With a private beach of its own. =) However, the catch is that the beach is pretty small and boring. Nevertheless, great for a field trip standard.

The day before the visit was spent just hanging out and going around Malacca, courtesy of our lab technician, Mr. Khairul Anuar. We went to ride the Taming Sari (name of the "keris" equivalent of the Excalibur). We got a discount just by showing our IC. Oddly, the international students don't get any discounts.

On board the Taming Sari

It's basically a revolving structure, that's why it's build this way...

The view from the top

This picture is blur due to the constant rotation, but the city of Malacca looks nice from the top

By the way, the Taming Sari ride is located near the Dataran Pahlawan shopping complex. We wanted to go to Jonker Walk to try all the night food. Unfortunately, all we saw was an empty street. T_T

But still, the main point of the field trip IS to visit the plant... right? So for formality's sake, I shall post up a picture of Petronas Penapisan Melaka Sdn. Bhd. Which by the way, has the best HSE practice amongst all Petronas companies, which was the reason we went to visit them.

This is the Cogen system structure... (blah x3, technical jargon)

That is all for the Malacca trip, more to come soon! (and hopefully more frequently!)

Absence of Productivity

I've been back in JB for a while now. It's so nice to be finally in a position where I can be absolutely relaxed and "responsibility-free", so to speak. The few days in which I have experienced the absence of productivity has allowed me to think things through and figure out what I need to focus on next semester, as it will be a tough one for me, and the others.

Anyways, I will be trying hard to study more next semester as I have many killer subjects. At the same time, appreciating my final year in UTP. Going to really miss the study life (of course, by saying that I don't mean assignments, tests, and reports!). And after that it's off to the working life...

Anyways one thing at a time. Right now still trying to solve the mystery of whether the final report hard bound cover needs to have the UTP logo on its front... That being done, then I would need to print out and bind those books immediately. T_T

Anybody have any idea how to solve that mystery?

Some Updates

A lil' update: Just back off a great weekend with the gf. Went for the All-American Rejects concert in Carpark A, Stadium Bukit Jalil. It was awesome. The pushing and shoving was horrible, but heck, at least God protected us. The mini fight was right beside us but we were alright. Btw, did I mention that we had a front-row view? =D

Some of you may know that my car was involved in an accident which has kept my car out of action for like 2 weeks or so. I haven't been able to take a picture of the extent of the damage there and then, but roughly explaining I can say that the whole driver's side was crushed and scratched and part of the headlights were crashed too.

After much pushing and telephone call frenzy, I managed to get to the workshop to take a look at the car yesterday. I do hope I receive a call later telling me that my car is ready for pickup.

The circled: headlights, The wavy lines: hancur (last time)

Red wavy line: scratches that looked like wolverine's claw marks, red circle: dent, black circle: door jammed

What Happened to the Dogs?

Quick update #1: I have not been online for a long time. Just felt bored of going online for a while.

Quick update #2: Liverpool 5 - 0 Singapore!! This shows 2 things. Liverpool > Man Utd & Malaysia > Singapore!! (tongue in cheek)

If you do recall the post about my supervisor's fearsome dogs, here's a little update on what happened to them. It seems the dogs have been at the shelter for a month or so and they have become fatter. But they have also taken up a new interest-- WOMEN!!

By this I mean female dogs. Their latest endeavour has earned them scars and bruises, and my supervisor decided to bring them some acriflavine lotion, which is why we got to visit them.

Injured soldier-in-love

Just in case you were wondering about what happened to that little puppy that they bullied. She's a little more grown up now, and they've gotten used to her and stopped barking at her. In fact, she can even get away with messing around with them and she helps them lick their wounds. Since then they have found a new target to unleash their fury upon, and they do so without any mercy. That unfortunate victim happens to be another dog over there.

Puppy trying to help clean the wound

Mischievous puppy

Other than that, managed to bring gf to The Curve and IKEA finally. We had some nice meatballs though. =D And I love this pic!

Post-Batman Syndrome

Okay, I have not been posting for a long time.

No internet connection for 2 weeks plus + assignments and piling lab reports = Lazy to blog

Same old, same old. But I guess I better post something here so this place won't be so dead. lolx.

Here's a little video I got from Jared. I find it quite funny though. It's been a while since Dark Knight and Lego has recently launched this Batman game which is pretty interesting. Here's the trailer. The usual Batman stuff, only thing... This time Alfred kicks ass! Batman is very much a decoration here. Enjoy
