Beautiful Week

Legend:

  • Places
  • Food
  • Noteworthy

Last week was simply fantastic. Girlfriend and her brother came to JB for a couple of days (22-26 December). After so long, finally got to see them again. *grins* It was very nice and thanks to them, we had a wonderful time.

Was very excited to see them when picked them up at Larkin Sentral bus station. Immediately the next morning we headed for some of Cathay Laksa and the "famous" Beef Noodles near the newly-built customs complex. After that we headed off to shop for some stuffs at City Square.

Decided to have some Baskin Robbins ice-cream at the newly-opened outlet. Turns out to be that the ice-creams there are larger in size compared to the ones we normally have at other outlets. Thanks to girlfriend for the beautiful treat though. =D

The next few days we went out eating and trying out some food. Fortuntely, we got to taste the Nasi Lemak in Mana Lagi. After so so many years of not being able to taste the food there, I can still say that it is THE BEST Nasi Lemak in Malaysia!! =D and now, girlfriend has got a chance to taste it too. =DD

On the 25th we went to Kukup fishing village to see the "kelong" (fishing village on stilts) and to have some real nice seafood. Anyways, some of you might know that I have an allergy towards crabs. So I finally mustered up the courage to have some crab meat. Thanks to girlfriend and mum for helping me peel some pieces (bahagia XD), it went well and my tongue didn't even itch. I wonder if that is a sign that I'm healed of that. *scratches head*

The trip was quite fun 'cause we got to spend a lot of time together and took a whole load of photographs, which I might be posting soon. But we sure slept up to really late evening after getting back from Kukup, and had a late dinner.

But night time was one of the fun nights. Since girlfriend was going back the next day, we decided we would have some fun in Danga Bay on the last night.

Me, girlfriend, Jason (her bro) and Joel (my bro) went there by car. Burned a few coins on the arcade shooting hoops. There came a point when the time was up but for some unexplainable reason, the balls just kept coming. So we just kept on shooting until we got fed up of it. Wanted to play some fusball but the machine was out of order. Ended up playing Photo Hunt instead.

This is where it gets crazy...

We rented a tandem bike after digesting our dinner and decided to do something crazy. I took the wheel (adding to the danger deliberately!). We rode our way over humps and bumps, braving the traffic from each side of the road.

  1. Into the carpark we went, overtaking another tandem bike
  2. Past the "NO ENTRY" sign, leading into the pedestrian areas
  3. Into the extreme park (via crossing over some railway tracks when the train was coming!)
  4. Riding out and overtaking that same unfortunate bike XD
  5. At this point, Joel (my bro) suggested we ride through and break a no entry tape denying access to the area sealed off for the new year countdown party.
  6. We rode in and due to lack of power, we got stuck.
  7. Struggling to break through, security personnel was arriving.
  8. Broke through!!
  9. Kena halau balik... =P

Anyway this trip was a really wonderful one and one that I will cherish for life. Hopefully there will be more of that to come in years and years. =D Oh, and Happy New Year everyone!!

Finally!

Finally the day is tomorrow. Finally the driving instructor is going to come and help me complete the remaining few hours of my driving classes. Hopefully they will come to an end after a few days.

Last week the instructor was supposed to come to pick me up, since he already picked up my documents and renewed my "L" license days before. Somehow or rather, it just didn't work out. Something cropped up, and he didn't make it. Hopefully, he will finally be able to make it and put an end to my long wait.

Until then I am still trying to complete some tasks to help out the kids' church in their presentation to find some background music for the scenes.

Christmas Time! (well, almost!)

Been at home a lot lately and been doing some preparations for Christmas in church. I realized this holidays are flying by really fast, but I guess it's ok. Anyway I might be getting some nice Christmas presents this holidays. =D

One thing so far is that the letter from my former driving school has just arrived today and my new agent has finally come to collect it. This means there will FINALLY be a conclusion to my driving lessons (fyi, I am still taking my driving license. Huhu). So I guess this is the first Christmas present for me. *grins*

Hopefully I will be getting more pressies from God though. Perhaps a pleasant surprise when my results come out later?? *fingers crossed*

Double Tag: Wedding

Been tagged by two ppl the same way. Haha. John and Wan Sin. Wedding.

How old are you?
20

Are you single?
I'm currently in a relationship.

Do you want a garden/beach or a traditional wedding?
Hmmm... Garden party/ Beach or Traditional doesn't matter. But I just know it's gotta be the best. =D

Your ideal motive?
You mean, "motif".. Well, it has gotta be a fancy theme full of surprises (for the bride, of course!) and something that gives of a dream-like atmosphere. =D

Where do you plan to go on a honeymoon?
Probably to Paris or Venice. Oh and somewhere my wife can shop for the things she always wanted to, and if I have enough money, *fingers crossed* to perhaps have a stay at Burj Al Arab, Dubai for a night at least.

How many guests do you think you'll invite?
Depends la. The more the merrier.

Do you want an extravagant wedding or a simple wedding?
Depends on the financial status.

Describe your ideal husband/wife?
R.E.N.A.E. =P

Do you prefer fine dining or just the normal spoon & fork/knife?

Champagne or red wine?
Haven't tasted champagne yet, so I can't say.

Honeymoon right after the wedding or days after the wedding?
Right away!! XD

Money or household items?
A good mix of both, but if items better still not redundant.

Are you ready for married life?
Nope. If not I will be married now already.

Do you think you will still be a virgin until you get married?
That is exclusively for the person I marry.

2. Henry Yew
3. Amy Goh
4. William One
5. Raymond Tie

Blessed Semester

Another one is over and this, I must say is one of the more blessed ones. This one was filled with tonnes and tonnes of God's abundant grace and mercy. It hasn't been perfect, but somehow it ended well. *grins*

Haven't been able to go online for a long time due to exams and I just got back to JB not long ago though. Spent some time in Penang with gf and celebrated our 1st year together. =D Thanks for the wonderful present baby!

Anyway, I'm going to be spending the holidays doing some things that I haven't been able to settle during the semester, for example, finishing my driving license T.T and hopefully gf can come down to JB though. *fingers crossed*

The kids =D

There's a one-in-million chance of finding this =DDD

The Thanksgiving Post

Well, this is almost the state I'm in though, minus the Russian thing and the dirty things. *lol*

Have been very very very busy with the final examination since 2 weeks ago. Before the final I just came off a series of horrible tests and stressful studying nights. But really PRAISE GOD that He helped me to pull through such a period.

When I got the final timetable for the examinations, it was kinda crazy looking as it features for the first time in my uni life, 3 STRINGS OF BACK-TO-BACK PAPERS. =.=

Just finished my Structural Analysis paper actually and I'm nursing a damaged hand due to too much writing. Finished my paper exactly on the dot. Nevertheless the paper was fantastic. Once again, really PRAISE GOD. He really blessed me with massive improvements in my studies this semester and I'm really thankful after every paper I take. The BACK-TO-BACK PAPERS aren't easy and I know there's no way I can ever go through those papers without His help. =D

Finally, I'm going to take a breather now and just lay back and relax for a while. Once again, PRAISE GOD!!

Holidays Finally!!

Finally the first 2/3 of the semester is over and we are on Raya break now. *grins*

Just came back from camp and had a really super time there though. =D The camp was in Chefoo Methodist Center in Cameron Highlands and the weather was so cold that the night we returned to UTP my whole body was feeling sooooooooooo PANAS despite having the fan set to a maximum speed of 5. XD

Will be spending the remainder few days in pg with girlfriend and eating nice nice food.. *drools* unlike the situation we had in UTP despite it being Ramadhan. Normally Ramadhan would mean that the food would be extra nice when it comes to breaking fast time. Unfortunately this was not so for this year. So yea... you can imagine how much I'm craving really really nice food.

Well, so far had some really nice food. Had some beautiful spag cooked by girlfriend and wonderful soup cooked by her mum. To top it up, we had a little bit of Macademian Nut-flavoured Haagen Dazs ice-cream. *drools at the thought of it again*

Anyways, enough said. More pictures it shall be =)

Wonderful scones =D

Post-Batman Syndrome

Okay, I have not been posting for a long time.

No internet connection for 2 weeks plus + assignments and piling lab reports = Lazy to blog

Same old, same old. But I guess I better post something here so this place won't be so dead. lolx.

Here's a little video I got from Jared. I find it quite funny though. It's been a while since Dark Knight and Lego has recently launched this Batman game which is pretty interesting. Here's the trailer. The usual Batman stuff, only thing... This time Alfred kicks ass! Batman is very much a decoration here. Enjoy

I Love Hate Sony Ericsson

For some reason. Sony Ericsson just ruined the Daughtry Street Jam. Was so looking forward to watching them that girlfriend and I were willing to take the weekend to travel to KL. Since we were already kinda pissed that Sony Ericsson decided to sell tickets buy forcing people to buy phones. It's like about 300++ for 1 ticket. Regardless of where you are standing.

Went all the way to 1 Utama, which is actually pretty inconvenient for a street party. They sealed up the whole place from the view of the public (who did not buy their phones) and even took extensive measures to block off certain places in the shopping mall that would allow people to peep into the concert. Of course, that didn't stop us from being able to catch a glimpse of the band warming up though.

Thanks to the efforts of Jason, we found out that the restaurant "Chilis" has a place that overlooks the concert ground. So with some painstaking efforts, we finally got a place at that coveted balcony area (many people were eyeing it though), but the worst was yet to come.

We had to wait 4 FREAKIN' HOURS for Daughtry to come out. There were so many (and I really really mean MANY) performances by Malaysian artists, one after another. No offence to Malaysian artists. They were good and all, especially the turntablists. The thing is, people don't pay Sony Ericsson so freakin' much to have Daughtry come as a sideshow. Daughtry only performed about 30 minutes or so (fyi, the turntablists had 45 minutes! until they made it more like a street clubbing party).

But here comes the climax. We were just done with another performance and the emcees came out saying, "Do you wanna see Daughtry?" crowd cheers. "Then chant with me. Daughtry, Daughtry..." crowd chants. "Put your hands together for... idol... Ladies and gentlemen... DANIEL LEE!!!" =.='' That was the last straw.

Conclusion. I Hate Sony Ericsson.

Something to Think About

Just a little something that I came across somewhere. Suddenly thought of people who usually would try to use science to disprove things that happen in the Bible. Is the study of science not in line with the things written in the Bible?

A little boy was once sitting on a park bench munching on some wafers and clutching a Bible in his other arm. Just then, a man who had just graduated from university caught sight of this young boy exclaiming, "Praise the Lord, Hallelujah!". Driven by his recent enlightenment of being awarded a Bachelor of Science degree, he sought to enlighten the boy with his knowledge.

Taking a seat beside the boy, he asked the boy what he was so happy about. The boy exclaimed, "Praise the Lord, His wonders and miracles helped the Israelites to cross the Red Sea!". The enlightened man then smiled warmly and proceeded to provide a scientific explanation that the Israelites were able to cross the Red Sea because it was a low-tide period, and that the water was at most ten inches. Therefore, the supposed "miracle" wasn't such a big deal.

Feeling satisfied with his brilliant explanation, he was surprised to see the child exclaim once again, "Praise the Lord, Hallelujah!". The man asked, "Why are you so happy, boy?". The boy, without pausing, exclaimed even more excitedly, "Praise the Lord! He not only helped the Israelites cross the Red Sea, he topped it off by drowning the ENTIRE Egyptian army in only TEN INCHES of water!!!"

KL Week

Haven't been posting in ages though. But I guess I'm back again. Wonder how many people still read this blog. Had a really fantastic week in KL with girlfriend and managed to do so so many things that I wanted to do in KL. Thanks so much sweet! (shall go shoe hunting again for your wedges) *grins widely*

Anyway, me arrived on Monday and went back on Sunday. Traveling all across KL via train rides, really enjoyed myself with all the window shopping, shopping, eating =D and movies. Among the food that I really enjoyed included the perfect place for Italian food- Michelangelo's Italian Kitchen. Seriously, that place has a fantastic ambiance and the best lasagna I ever tasted. If you happen to drop by Sunway Pyramid and crave for Italian food, never mind the pricey Italiannies and Piccolo Mondo, Michaelangelo's is the way to go.

Some other of my favorites were Haagen Dazs and Famous Amos (credit goes to my baby =D). Had so much to eat and found so many things that we wanted to find in KL. Even bought a really cute elephant water dispenser called Proo Proo. It was on sale too! Oh and baby got me a really nice formal tee and I like it very much.

Only regret is that the rumored rioting danger prevented us from going to visit The Curve and go to Glad Tidings PJ. Well, thanks goes to God for providing so many nice chances and answering so many of our prayers, Girlfriend for making it such a wonderful week and her uncle for providing a nice accommodation.

United We Stand!!!

United Live!!

Alright, it's been a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnngggggg time since I have updated here. Oh well, for that matter, I haven't even been online in ages. I guess you can say that this is my first time since exam period. Finals been really hectic and tiring, but I'm glad I finally have my long-awaited break. *grins widely*

So yea, finally after a week or so I have set foot in my home. But will be going Singapore tomorrow. After that, OBS camp by Petronas (I have no idea why they keep stuffing our faces with camp after camp). My whole week has been spent in Penang and KL. Right after finals, made a rush to pack bags and rushed off with girlfriend to Penang, after a few days then off to KL.

Why did I go to KL? *gleeful look* Why, of course, Hillsongs United Live in KL "ONE NIGHT ONLY" concert. Yeap, they came to Glad Tidings PJ and thanks to Pastor Clement and Pastor Elijah, I managed to obtain 2 tickets to the concert (one of which is now my bookmark)!!

I haven't seen Hillsongs since 2004 in Singapore and this was my first Hillsongs concert, since the last one was actually a conference cum workshop. This was quite the experience. If I'm not wrong, majority of the crew was there, as in JD and the gang. But I didn't see the "Hosanna" lady though (whatever her name is, lol). The band played almost the entire catalog of all-time-favorites and really worked the crowd well while managing to bring us all into a really great experience of worshiping God. Like JD said, "It's not about singing the songs and feeling good and jumping all around, it's about worshiping Him (God)"

Was really happy as I got to bring girlfriend to her first ever Hillsongs concert though. Really nice to see her enjoy herself so so much. We were dancing and jumping and just praising God until we all had almost no more energy after that. Haha. But the amazing thing about worshiping God is that even though you feel so tired after giving your all, He miraculously just makes all the fatigue disappear almost instantly. =)

The band started out with one of their all-time favorite songs "The Time Has Come" and then went on to play songs like "Break Free", "Take It All", "Salvation Is Here", "Tell The World" and "What The World Will Never Take Away". The time of worship that was to follow was simply fantastic. I remember we started it with "Mighty To Save" and ended on a very high note with "Saviour King". Well, at least I thought that was a good ending but I never expected that we were just beginning.

After another round of quick numbers, the band concluded and went off-stage. But when they came back for an encore, they made a nice ending to the while concert with "One Way" and "Solution".

To sum it all up, I think it was fantastic and a really fun time for us. I would strongly recommend anyone to go and see Hillsongs live in concert. God will really work wonders and stir a new song in your heart.

Oh yea, and I would probably be avoiding Unagi Rice for quite a while though =P

It's Official!

Some of you know, I have been working on Project: Invictus lately. So after actually posting want ads and the efforts of several people in attempts to hire people to fill in the vacancies, I can now say that it is official. We have finally formed our band. *grins* (Watch out, Shortz... here we come! =P)

After consulting several opinions, it has actually come down to 4 logo designs, namely number 1, 2, 4 and 6. The band members had a vote and we are now going to use logo number 6 (van Helsing). So I guess now we will be searching for gigs around and practicing every week while trying not to clash with our examinations and studies.

The lineup is currently comprising of a few members from the former Confusion and a new vocalist (thanks to Adonis' smart move). Hopefully, this time, the search will really be over. Gotta really practice hard and improve my skills from now on though if we want to get somewhere with this band.

Just one problem. If our keyboardist leaves and goes back to Indonesia, we'll need to search for people all over again. *sigh* On the bright side, we have to choose some nice songs to practice now. *grins*

QUESTION(S) OF THE DAY:

  1. Which songs should we play? Any suggestions are welcome, preferably suiting a female vocalist.
  2. Why does UTP have such bad internet connection lately, but such fantastic LAN all of a sudden (sending files on gtalk has been ridiculously fast)?

The Black Post 2: [INVICTUS]

This is the second of the series on BLACK POSTS. As you can see here, I've even modified my theme here to suit the black atmosphere. *grins widely* Now to the main point. I have been planning on forming a band called "INVICTUS" for a long time (Just for your information, Invictus means unconquered in latin). So finally I have found a few talented individuals game enough and skillful enough to form the nucleus of the band.

I have no idea how wide my viewer base is, but I'm gonna make full use of this space to ask for opinions. I've made a few little possible logos to choose from with my limited skills in paint software So please please do give me your feedback. I really need it. But if you have an even better design or even better idea, you are most welcome to contact me. =)

As of now, our priority is hiring a lead guitarist, able to play Dream Theater songs and a flexible vocalist of good vocal range and pitching. more updates to come soon.

The Black Post

"Wait a minute... I thought it was Google?" Well don't bother rubbing your eyes or wiping your spectacles to get a clearer view. This is Google, but only in a special edition called BLACKLE- The energy saving search engine. Pretty cool idea, I think. Introduced to me by Jared.

Basically I think this is quite an interesting idea. Its simple layout makes it rather interesting, coupled with the fact that it's all in black (you can nearly never go wrong with black!), it makes for quite a unique way of saving power. Employing a rather adorable concept of "taking small steps to save energy", the black screen that displays on the Blackle webpage actually helps to save energy as a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen. Due to the popularity of the Google search engine, Blackle would help to save energy in small steps (I have no idea why I find that line adorable!).

So all you people who want to do your part to save the environment, yet do not want to move your butts from the comfy chair you are sitting on. Perhaps you could check that website out. It's my home page currently and I think itz quite nice, as it even displays how many watt hours are collectively saved. =D

Well This post is also done entirely done in black font, as a show of support towards Blackle and its efforts (in small steps at least!).

Some Photos (The Forgotten Band)

I have mentioned a lot about my band "Confusion" in the previous posts. But then it seems that this band has been a forgotten band after the preliminary rounds. There's even no recording of our band done by the IT Media people who came the other day available on DC++. But anyways, here are some photos that came from the camera of a band member.

The whole band together onstage

The band from another side

The other 3 pics are self-explanatory =P

As The Bands Go Marching On...

We suddenly have a huge banner That displays the message "Say No To Euphonious". I have no idea what is happening to UTP nowadays. It seems that certain parties in UTP would see this competition as something against their religious convictions. But this has not been the first event being labeled as tidak halal and it certainly would not be the last.

I'm not going to criticize any parties here, but there is a very thin line between being religious and spirituality. The intentions may be good, but when we cross over the line from being spiritual to being religious, it completely turns sour and our efforts are not being appreciated by the people we are trying to help, nor does it bring benefit any longer as our efforts would only turn them against us.

I have no idea how much making that banner costs, but think about it. If so much resources are being put into this effort, you need to be very sure that the effort is worth every cent, or else the money would be better channeled into efforts like helping people learn more about God or improving spirituality constructively.

Well, that's just my own view. But from my observation, people seem to be having an adverse reaction towards this banner and may be even more determined to go for Euphonious. Well, if you can't beat them, join them. =P

Adding To The Noise

Have been busy for the past few weeks staying up late at night just to jam and practice for the Euphonious 2008 preliminary round. Finally got a load off my shoulders after today's performances. But come to think of it, I'll probably miss performing on stage just to entertain the crowd. *grins*

To be playing in Euphonious is not what I expected to be doing this year, let alone playing in 2 bands. Initially I only expected to be playing in the jazz band we formed since last year, comprising of me (vocals), Dhany (keyboard- he's brilliant and if he doesn't win best keyboardist, the judges are tone-deaf), Dr. Bambang (yes, the lecturer plays bass. And really really well), Hann (drums), Sherman (saxophone) and a string of guitarists which never really worked out. But because the thought Dr. Bambang was going to be one of the judges and due to Hann's withdrawal, we had to find replacements or just scrap the band.

Just when I almost cold storage-ed the idea of performing this year, Kee Hui came knocking. So I ended up having 2 bands after Dhany found the replacements. The band with Kee Hui was called "Project Summer" and Dhany's band was called "Confusion" (which I am, until now, confused about why it is called that).

Before prelims, I already knew what to expect as the previous year champions were joining again and many bands I knew of were very strong. But I kinda thought we stood a chance to impress at least.

Some facts you must at least know to have a clue in this post:

  1. I played drums for Confusion.
  2. I played rhythm guitar and did lead vocals for Project Summer.
  3. Both bands really rocked the stage (seriously).
  4. I thought the judges would at least say something good after the rocking performance we (Confusion) did instead of just saying "not too bad".
  5. NONE of us in Project Summer expected to actually make an impact with the audience, let alone the judges (Or even be in the Top 7!).

Thank You's:

To the band members of Confusion:-

Dhany- Brilliant. If I could describe you in 1 word that would be it. You are the fulcrum of the band and if it wasn't for you, all this wouldn't have happened. Thanks a lot. I'm gonna have lots of trouble finding a new keyboardist when u leave UTP. =D

Ofi- My new staple bassist. Hehe. After this year, we gonna have to find new band members from scratch, if Rizki and Sherman aren't interested in joining us. Enjoy grooving with you. Remember, next time we play Dream Theater. So practice harder. Our next band's name's Invictus (unconquered).

Rizki- My Hydraulics lab demonstrator. You play good guitar man. It's just a pity the sound settings went off when you were playing. or else everyone would have known how well you can play. The next Santana.

Sherman- You have some serious skills there you know that? You just have to realize how good you really are, then you'll be able to apply your skills very much more easily and be more spontaneous. Without your saxophone, our band really doesn't sound as good.

Adonis- Although you made a mistake, but that was a good performance. I'm impressed. I believe this is your first time? Well, trust me. You will get better and better with experience. Btw, enjoyed that acoustic jam session with you.

Fauzan- Even though some people didn't hear your voice clearly, I think you were good man. Thanks for being there when the band needed you.

To the band members of Project Summer:

That was really really fun. I loved the whole performance. Everyone was getting bored when they heard we were gonna sing Oasis' Don't Look Back In Anger, but we showed them. *cheeky grin* All of you did well. Especially for that Oasis song. I bet this is the first time anyone did such a punk cover. Too bad the bassist couldn't jump as his cable was too short. LOL

To Hui Lyng:

Thank you so so so so so so much for being so understanding and so so so so so so supportive throughout this entire arc of practices and jamming sessions right up to the prelims. You didn't even complain when things didn't go the way we planned it to be. To me it doesn't even matter if the judges didn't think much of us. All that matters is that I have done the best I can and that you are proud of me and that I can use the talents God blessed me with. =D So proud to have you. Really appreciate you a lot a lot.

To all the bands that performed, kudos for the courage to do what many other people would not dare to do and it was fun to be adding to the noise with all of you. Congratulations to Sebastian, Stella and Vinod for going through to the final. Proud of you guys.

N.B. To those who are completely clueless, Euphonious is the name of the band competition in UTP

Some Updates (Construction Phase 2)

Been tweaking the blog bit-by-bit. After trying out a few designs and playing around with a few headers, finally I have created a new header that I'm pretty satisfied with. *wide grin*

The design might be a little rough, but hey, what more can you expect from the "paint" software. Well at this rate, I hope I will be able to complete the blog design and officially open it to the public. (Note to self: MUST learn how to use photoshop... SOON!!!) Hopefully I would be able to come up with a few more new ideas or just stumble across some cool stuffs to put in here.

For next phase of construction, I need to find a nice theme and a nice blog description to go with it. Unfortunately my hectic lifestyle in UTP is hardly inspiring. Will have to dig deep into my brains and work some other people's brain juices for ideas. *thinks deep*

By the way, does anybody know how i can get a cbox for this blog? It seems like UTP ITMS has blocked the cbox website as "chat". T.T wireless is barely stable here too.

Initiation

This is the post to start off all posts. Alright, this is it. *rubs hands together*

I have been thinking of doing this for quite a few months. Finally I'm doing this. *beams proudly* The layout here looks kinda rough and still needs a lot of tweaking. I guess I will be doing that in these few weeks whenever I have the time (It's super-duper hard to actually get time to do stuff these days with the amount of assignments and activities I am involved in).

So while I try to put everything in balance, this site remains under construction.

Site under construction =P
